smiles and laughter. Work has been crazy busy and this series gave me an outlet
for escape even if for a few hours. Lately I have found myself struggling to
find new books to read. I’ve tried new authors, different genre’s, etc. I
completely forgot that Darynda Jones had a couple of series outside of Charley
Davidson that I had not yet read so when I stumbled back across them on Amazon,
I just had to scoop them up.

I thoroughly enjoyed the first book so of course I’ve been
waiting on the sequel and it does not disappoint. As one would expect from this
author there are comedic moments that having you chuckling out loud and anyone
in your vicinity looking at you like you’re crazy, suspense and there are
moments of sadness. Just as there would be in real life.

The characters are wonderfully kooky and heart-warming, it’s
a true supporting cast. Every character only enhances the story and makes you
want to move to their little town in New Mexico.

I enjoyed every second of this book (as well as the first)
and highly recommend it. If you’ve been waffling, now is the time.

number of years but to no fault of hers I took a long break from reading within
the Romance genre. When I saw she had a new book coming out it rekindled my
interest in the Psy-Changeling series. So I went back and caught up on the
series backlog made my way to Last Guard.

Finally we get a glimpse into the mysterious Anchors. They
had been introduced in the earlier Psy-Changeling books but we never learned
too much about them.

I really enjoyed Canto’s character he was charming and
engaging. From the beginning he pulls you and keeps you engaged. His backstory
makes you like the Merchant family even more than you may have already. The
Merchants take care of their own, even those deemed “flawed”.

Payal is a bit enigmatic at first but as she opens up to
Canto you see more into her heart and the pain housed there. You quickly learn
that what the public sees is just a façade and underneath she is just doing
everything she can to just survive.

Overall, it was a good story that kept the reader moving and
engaged. I wouldn’t say this is my favorite book in the series but it is a
solid read.

When he was taken from his parents and a house that was never a home. When he met his brothers, the other lost and abandoned boys in his group home. When he learned what friendship and family and love looked like.

Now he’s made good, touring the world with the band he and his brothers formed in that crowded group home. No one but his found family really knows the man under the fame and fortune, the scars he hides behind the rockstar lifestyle. Until he sees her through the windows of the National Ballet, dancing, and suddenly the world doesn’t seem so dark.

Aleksandra Artemov ticks all the ballet boxes. Father a legendary Kirov dancer. Check. Prepping since birth for classical ballet. Check. Compulsive control over the food she eats. Check. Principal dancer at The National Ballet of Canada. Check. But what she craves is freedom.

She craves Jordan.

Everything about him should terrify her. His size, his tattoos, his edge. But he doesn’t. He stirs her very soul. Jordan has nothing but himself to offer her, and he's never been good enough for anyone. Can he figure out how to face his own demons before he loses his light for good?

Review:

Jordan Reclaimed by Scarlett Cole is the first in the new series called Preload. We met the men of Preload in Second Circle Tattoo Series. Dred hooked up with Pixie from Second Circle Tattoo shop and now the rest of the band are going to get their happily ever afters.

Jordan is the reason the band lives together, severely abused as a child he has some serious separation anxiety. After reading about his heartbreaking childhood its a miracle he can function at all. Scarlett Cole does an excellent job creating emotion and pulling us into what the character is feeling in this book. You really understand why Jordan is the way he is and your heart breaks for him and you are rooting for him to figure it out and to heal.

Lexi is awesome. She really is great for Jordan, when he starts retreating she makes him listen and respond. She doesn't let him disappear. I also love that Lexi is a ballerina! In my lowly opinion there are just not enough ballerina books and Im not saying that just because I used to dance.. or maybe I am.. but anyway she is a great foil for this hardcore metal artist. Classical ballerina vs. Heavy Metal.. so cute. Lexi has her own issues. Her father is a Grade A asshole and it effects other aspects of her personality thay we have to work through before these two can find their HEA. But as a reader you are invested in the outcome. You come to care about these characters and Cole spins an entertaining emotional tale you will be hard pressed to put down.

The premise is basically anyone that is born on a particular night is born with special powers. It is a crime to be born on that night and the babies are sentenced to death. The human Viking Clans of earth are in danger of being obliterated—along with the rest of the world—and the only one who may be able to save them is a super pain-in-the-ass Crow. Most people annoy Stieg, but this is the one woman he really can’t stand…

Erin Amsel loves being a Crow! Why wouldn’t she when the other Viking Clans are so hilariously arrogant and humorless? She’s not about to let all that come to an end! She just didn’t expect to be shoulder to shoulder in battle with Stieg. Then again, he’s so easy to torment—and also kind of cute.

With the future of the world riding on them, Stieg knows he’ll have to put aside his desperate need to kiss the smirk right off Erin’s face. Wait. What? He didn’t mean that—did he? No! They have one goal: To conquer the idiots. Because nothing bugs Stieg more than when idiots win. If only he can keep himself from suddenly acting like one….

Review:

The Unyielding by Shelly Laurenston is the third book in the Call of the Crows series. There is a pesky god on the loose and if they fail Ragernok will happen sooner rather than later. The fate of the world is in one persons hands.... Erin, the most hated Crow. Erins life mission is to annoy and irritate as many people as she can, why? Because she can... Doesn't matter if you are her fellow Crow or one of the Norse Gods. No one is safe from Erin. Despite her irritating personality she actually has a heart of gold and a fierce fearless spirit. Regardless, no one wants the fate of the world in Erins hands.

Steig is a cranky Viking, even for other vikings he's cranky. He converses with very few people and has a chip on his should the size of a glacier. When Erin irritates a person to the point of violence he just laughs, until he ends up accompanying Erin on her quest.

With this installment look out for more laughs, a surprising amount of emotion and LOTS of violence. Everything that you look forward to in a S. Laurenston novel you will find in abundance here. I adore this series and look forward to each new installment. So dont miss out, get started now.

But revamping the reputation of a notorious Swedish hockey player will take every trick in her arsenal, especially when his agent insists that convincing everyone he’s no longer a playboy is top priority. And that it requires a sham relationship—with Annika playing the part of loving girlfriend.

On fire in the rink and in the bedroom, Axl Hammerquist couldn’t care less about being anyone’s golden boy. So when his agent forces him to play nice with a new publicist, he takes satisfaction in being as much of a pain as possible. But the more time he spends getting to know Annika, the more Axl starts to think that being Mr. Nice Guy might be worth it if it gets him the girl…

Review:

All You Need by Lorelei James is the third book in the Need You Series. I read the previous book in the series and adored it. There was a bit of angst and it was funny. It left me wanting more from this series so when this book came out I pounced on it. Sadly, the pouncing was the most excitement this book delivered. It wasn't bad, just merely ok. It left me with a MEH feeling. It wasn't particularly funny, the second half was a bit boring. I do admit the first half was pretty engaging, there was sexual tension, the characters were conflicted and there was more humor but somewhere in the middle it lost all of that. What was special and fun in the first half disappeared leaving us with lost potential. The characters were ok, again nothing too special here. Again, there is nothing bad about this book but it didn't live up to what it could have been which was disappointing.

Review copy provided for an honest review no other compensation was provided.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17413486920559905597noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6503095264996039766.post-32118414726213058822017-09-28T12:00:00.000-07:002017-09-28T12:00:08.856-07:00#Review - White Hot by Ilona Andrews

But her new case pits her against the shadowy forces that almost destroyed the city of Houston once before, bringing Nevada back into contact with Connor "Mad" Rogan.

Now that the stakes are even higher, both professionally and personally, and their foes are unimaginably powerful, Rogan and Nevada will find that nothing burns like ice …

It was several years between the first and second book but fans of the series (myself included) were willing to accept that wait as long as there was a second book. So after several years was the wait worth it, you ask? Hell to the YES!!! Amazing, that is what this book was. This book picks up several months after the first book ends. Adam almost burnt the city to the ground but Nevada with the help of Mad Rogan was able to stop him but the powers that be that were behind Adam remain at large. Mad Rogan is on a mission to locate and bring this organization down. Nevada is just trying to pick up the pieces and remain out of the spotlight.

Cornelius Harrison wife has been murdered and he wants Nevada to find the killer. When Nevada's case and Rogan's obsession intertwine Nevada finds herself working with Mad Rogan once again. Get ready for an action packed roller coaster ride! From beginning to end this book left me wanting more. Thankfully the third book is right on the tail of this one so we dont have to wait long to see what happens next!

Control. Precision. Family. These are the principles that drive Silver Mercant. At a time when the fledgling Trinity Accord seeks to unite a divided world, with Silver playing a crucial role as director of a worldwide emergency response network, wildness and chaos are the last things she needs in her life. But that’s exactly what Valentin Nikolaev, alpha of the StoneWater Bears, brings with him.

Valentin has never met a more fascinating woman. Though Silver is ruled by Silence—her mind clear of all emotion—Valentin senses a whisper of fire around her. That’s what keeps him climbing apartment buildings to be near her. But when a shadow assassin almost succeeds in poisoning Silver, the stakes become deadly serious…and Silver finds herself in the heart of a powerful bear clan.

Her would-be assassin has no idea what their poison has unleashed…

Reviews:

I've been a huge fan of the Psy-Changeling series since I started reading it many years ago. I was super excited when this book came out because not only is it the Silver but we get bear changelings! They've been on the edges of this world for several books now but now we get a closer look. While I did enjoy this book, enough to give it four stars it is not one of my favorites. The plot almost seemed like a repeat of previous stories and I don't feel like we have progressed as much as we should have for 16 books in. It almost feels like we're back at the beginning.

With that in mind I did thoroughly enjoy the bears! They were a refreshing and adorable addition to this series and I'm so glad we got some time with them. The Merchant family is quite fascinating as well as Silvers place in her family as heir apparent. I really enjoyed These two together, our hero forced playfulness on Silver and started pulling her out of her silence but it all may be in vain as Silver has a secret... If her silence breaks... so does she... Can love overcome?

Beneath his sleek exterior, Quinn has a secret passion for sculpting. But after a nearly fatal motorcycle accident, he’s struggling just to walk again, let alone get back to the studio—and it doesn’t help that the doctor in charge of his physical therapy is his childhood crush. Six years ago, she gave in and shared a single passionate night with Quinn. Now she’s just hoping the cocky lover from her past doesn’t derail her plans for the future. Little by little, though, Kiera gets to know another side of Quinn. She knew he was a family man, devoted to his parents and brothers, but he’s also a free spirit trapped in a cage—and only she has the key. To heal both Quinn’s body and soul, Kiera’s tempted to give him a special kind of medicine.

Quinn is not in a good place when this book starts, everything he thought he knew about his life and his place in it, is up in air. His body is broken and he's barely holding onto his mind. When his new physical therapist walks in, he's sure he's going to lose it. Kiera, the love of his life, the one that got away, is his new physical therapist and she's not going to let him get away with being distant and withdrawn.

She needed to get away and find herself, Quinn must understand that. Sure she should have said something after their one night together. She took off to school without so much as a goodbye but Quinn should have answered her calls. When Kiera see's Quinn again after years apart, he's at his lowest point in his life. Kiera is determined to be the person that gets him back on his feet. Literally and figuratively.

I was amazing! I've actually already read it twice.. After the first read it spurred a re-read of the series which of course I had to re-read Viper once I got through the series. I had a feeling these two would end up together when they first started interacting in Dmitri's book and I am so glad that came to fruition.

She has respect and for the most part the watch dogs are off of her. She's been able to fake it well enough that Dmitri isn't as cautious.

So I Married a Sorcerer is the second book in the Embraced
Series by Kerrelyn Sparks. After reading the first book I knew I would be continuing
on with this series. It’s such a fun world, infused with Sparks humor and some
magic thrown in. In this tale Rupert can
control the winds; which is convenient since he’s a dashing pirate. Brigitta
has been living on an island with her “sisters” her whole life. She has no idea
that she has an evil brother out there until he sets out to kidnap her. Her
fate is coming to get her and she is fighting it for all its worth. Her fate
turns out to be a pirate who kidnaps her before her brother does and we are
swept away to sea.. for a short period. There is still things to be done on
land, kingdoms to over throw, tournaments to enter, dragons to kill, or not
kill… I don’t know you’ll have to read
to see if there is any dragon slaying. Be prepared for a fun exciting read and
Brigitta and Rupert take you on an adventure! You won’t be disappointed.
I'm not ashamed to admit that I begged Sourcebooks for a review copy of this book. I think I did a little dance when I got approved. : )

I’d say it did a pretty damn good job. The beginning threw for a loop for a minute, I even had to go back and re-read the last chapter of the first book to make sure I didn't miss anything but don't worry about that, I jumped the gun and all was explained shortly after. There were a couple of things that were built up in the first book that ended up being a bit anti-climatic when revealed in book two but I didn't even really mind too much.

This book was so action packed you barely have time to come up for air between one battle scene and the next. I’m kind of left wondering if you compare how many time Kate from the Ilona Andrews - Kate Daniels and Kit from this series on how many times they almost die… who would win? They are both fierce women and exceptional fighters and magic users but they can both be pretty reckless when it comes to protecting the ones they love. Poor Griffin is always watching the women he loves run into impossible situations but somehow they both always make it out of the situations.

In the previous book I had mentioned that the use of the Greek gods threw me off but I had read somewhere that the author is of Greek descent so now that I know why she chose to use these particular gods it makes more sense to me and it no longer bothered me. In this book we also see some budding romances and I truly hope Griffins sisters get what they want! They turn out to be pretty fierce little things and my money in on them!

So I would highly suggest taking a chance.

I had read the second book in the series and really loved it. While I did enjoy this book it didn't quite live up to the second book. Saving a Legend was deeply emotional with well developed characters that you couldn't help but love. Becoming a Legend features Kane and Nora who we were set up for in the second book. Kane threw Nora cheesy pick up lines and Nora deflected them and him like a pro. In the second book and the beginning of this book there was great sexual tension. Neither wanted a relationship but the sexual tension was getting to both of them so they agreed to a FWB type of situation but before either of them knew it more was developing.

That was probably the best part of the book. Where I had issues was with Nora and Kane themselves. Kane, I liked more than Nora, but even he had his spoiled middle child syndrome going on. He’d whine about how his family basically left him out to dry and how he was all alone. Which made me want to smack him up on the side of the head, thankfully this came up very rarely and his eldest brother put his ass in check. Now Nora, here was my biggest issue. Her mommy issues were distracting to say the least. I just wanted to shake her and scream you’re a smart grown women and you’re letting your loser mom wreck your entire future. I bet if she had just gone to the cops from the get go all would have been good but nooooo she decided to take on her mom's problems to her own detriment. And it wasn’t all the plausible to begin with. So in the end Im not sure I ever truly warmed up to Nora. I wanted to but she just left me mehh.. Maybe if I hadn’t had high expectations I would have liked this one more but instead it was just good or ok instead of great. I am however confident that there will be lots of great reviews on this book and many, many people will end up loving it.

As the league’s most eligible goalie, Max Fournier has access to his fair share of willing puck bunnies, but right now he’s more interested in bringing home another championship than a one-night stand. A romantic at heart, Max believes in love; he’s just not great at relationships. So when he finally meets a nice girl who’s not blinded by his celebrity, he’s feeling the heat—and the pressure to save her from herself.

And he sees past her tired eyes and makes Jules yearn for things she can’t have: a glamorous fling, a passionate lover, and the time to enjoy both. Max makes her feel like Cinderella, even though Jules has enough baggage to crush a glass slipper. Luckily, he’s no prince—only a fierce competitor determined to win her heart.

I started reading these books around 4 or 5 months ago and have been hooked. I do love a good hockey sports romance book and this is a pretty decent series in this sub-genre. This installment while not my favorite was pretty solid. I enjoyed it and it was pretty heartwarming. Not a whole lot of conflict except schedules and a bit of fear on Jules end. It was pretty refreshing that the male was the one that was looking for a relationship and had no fear of commitment. Jules sister's kids were pretty cute. I'm not usually a fan of kids in a book but they didn’t overpower the story line so in this case it was fine. We got to revisit a bunch of the previous couples in the series. It’s always nice to catch up with past characters. One complaint I think I have with this book, was there wasn’t much hockey in it. It was mostly just mentioned in passing like after a game. But other than that, it was a good book.

I am super glad I did. I was very pleasantly surprised. I liked both Miranda doesn’t have time for a sexy playboy hockey player. She’s got school and two jobs and is still barely keeping her head above the water. Jake has never met a woman he wanted to see more than once but there was something about Miranda that just keeps him coming back for more. She doesn’t take his shit and calls him on his BS. She’s no nonsense and makes him work for it. But what I think made me fall for him is when he studies with her. He knows he wouldn’t be able to spend time with her otherwise and he wants to see her so much that he goes to her place and helps her study for her exam and even stays at her crappy apartment with her when he’s paying for and staying at a five star hotel.

Oops.. So anyway, thanks NetGalley for reminding me that I had this book. I took a second look at the blurb and I was intrigued enough to give it a whirl and I’m pretty glad I did.

Tyler is a “bad boy” with a heart of gold, although, he’s not much of a bad boy he just looks like one. My favorite kind of “bad boy”. He’s had a rough upbringing and his younger brothers have it even worse. He does his best but it’s not always enough. Rory is super smart and a bit socially awkward. Usually I don’t like the whole innocent virgin thing but it’s totally buyable in this case. Rory is only 20 and just hasn’t had the opportunity to lose it mostly because she keeps most people at an arm's length.

Not so much into the trading men thing but McCarthy managed to pull it off without much yuck factor. Pushing that aside, Tyler is pretty devoted to Rory from the get go. He doesn’t rush things and it all happens pretty organically. Overall, I liked the story. It wasn’t the best New Adult I’ve ever read but it was a pretty quick read. I finished it in one sitting and I'm intrigued enough to continue the series. I want to see what happens with everyone else.

And when Major Gabriel Forrester learns that he’s inherited the massive Scottish Highlands title and estate of a distant relation, the last thing he wants to do is give up the intensity of the battlefield for the too-soft indulgences of noble life. But Gabriel Forrester does not shirk his responsibilities, and when he meets striking, raven-eyed lass Fiona Blackstock, his new circumstances abruptly become more intriguing.

Firstly, he is far too attractive for Fiona’s peace of mind. Secondly, his right to “her” castle is a travesty, since it’s been clan Maxwell property for ages. As the two enter a heated battle of wills, an unexpected passion blazes into a love as fierce as the Highlands themselves. Is Fiona strong enough to resist her enemy’s advances—or is Gabriel actually her hero in disguise?

At first I was like nice a sassy heroine with a backbone and then she was just a shrew arguing to argue. It wasn't until maybe 60% or so that she started calming down and her real personality came out. still with a sharp tongue and a back bone but if she was standing up for something it meant something.

The cover grabbed my attention first and I was snagged with the description. A sexy rocker chick and a hottie guy in a suit.. Yeah, Im going to give this one a whirl. Kevan’s fledgling business needs to sign this band. Mason needs to bring in new talent into the company he works for to keep his job as CEO. The band needs someone to take them to the next level. When Mason and Kevan meet they are just two people in a bar with a strong attraction to each other and a night of passion. Too bad the one night stand follows them into a boardroom the next day when they are both pitching the same band. Kevan is seething and cant believe she’s been played like that. Mason can’t think about anything but getting Kevan back in bed. The beginning of this book, I wasn’t so sure of. It seemed like the characters were repeating themselves often and I wasn’t sure I liked either one of them all that much. But little by little I grew to like them more when they went on tour and started opening up to each more. By opening up to each other they opened up to us as the readers. By the end I was committed to the story and to Mason and Kevan as a couple. I ended up really enjoying the story despite the semi-shaky beginning. I’m really looking forward to the next book in the series and hope it’s either Kevan’s brother or one of the bandmates.

Some might be unhappy to return to this powerful couple but I for one have no issues revisiting Elena and Rafael as the seven all revolve around these two and come on, does Singh put out a bad Guild Hunter book regardless of the featured couple?? Nope, she sure does not. In this book we dont see as much as the Seven as I’d like but we do get glimpses of them as well as a bit of Elena’s Guard. Aodhan does play a bigger part of this book since he goes with Elena and Rafael to Morocco. I know a bunch of people want an Aodhan and Illium pairing but I'm pretty sure I remember reading that they are NOT going to end up together, but I can see why fans would want this to come to pass.

Ok to be fair not all of them are douchebags but there are more than a few that are. Near to the Luminata compound is a human settlement and when Elena arrives, the whispers start, people look at her as if in recognition. So a good part chunk of this book is the mystery that is Elena’s past. It’s quite intriguing. I had a lot of fun trying to guess the outcome but ended up being mostly wrong, but isn’t that the fun of it?

I also loved the glimpses into Aodhan past and present. Little by little Aodhan is overcoming his past and becoming someone with one does not mess with. I’m looking forward to more in the Guild Hunter world and I don't see an end anytime soon.

Malone for free through author Kit Rocha. They were gracious enough to provide some of their readers with a few freebies and this was one of them. I picked this one up to read on a whim, I think it was the title of the book more than anything. I didn't even know what it was about. It didn't take me long to really start enjoying this book. Tank has a burning hatred for the man that sired him but circumstances what they are (his mom is sick) he needs the money that his father is offering him. All he has to do is show up once a week so the old man can see him. Before he agrees to anything he decides that it is in his best interest to see a lawyer and keep seeing the same lawyer each week because of the girl that works the front desk.. Emma. He has a raging crush on her and asks her out every week and every week she says no.

Emma hasn’t had it too well as of late, her parents were murdered and all she wants to do is return to university so she can earn her degree. She works two jobs just to try to make that happen. One respectable and one not so respectable. Its a chance meeting at the second job that really has her giving Tank a second look. After he protects her and her friend and after a talk with his dad she decides to give Tank a chance and she never looks back. They basically become inseparable from there but their lives are complicated and Emma has a secret hanging over her head.

I really enjoyed the characters and the story, though the characters are really what pull this book through. Emma is a warm soul and wants the best for everyone. Tank has some issues mostly with anger and he doesn’t have the healthiest way of dealing with it, but Emma helps. I really liked them together, I felt like they really complimented each other. I felt like there were some holes in the story especially when it came to the death of Emma’s parents. I feel like it was glossed over especially when it came to Emma’s role. I also would have liked to have heard more about Tank’s time in the military but it was barely mentioned. Overall, if you are looking for a quick entertaining read this is a good one. I may read the rest of the series and I may not. It’s still up in air, although, I did like all of Tanks brothers. There are five of them in all.

This is a retelling of Little Red Riding Hood. Big Bad has gotten a bad rap… Yes, so he killed grandma but it’s not what you think! I promise. The fairy tales got it all wrong. Ewan has been kept from his mate for 500 years and he can no longer be kept from her. Red or should be call her by her real name Violet has been ignorant of her past for 500 years but she has a destiny to fulfill and now is the time. Danika finally gives Ewan his mates location and he’s off in a shot and just in time. She took on a wolf from the dark and was grievously injured. Violet has hated the wolf that is embracing her for as long as she can remember but she is finding that her memories are not all that they are supposed to be and little by little she realizes that this wolf is someone she can trust when she can’t trust anyone else.

Stay alive and 2. Come into her powers. They have several tasks they have to complete to help Violet come into her powers before the final confrontation. I quite enjoyed the journey while these two learn to trust each other and Violet learns what she can do.. But I’ve got to say, the final battle was a bit anti-climatic. I felt like more power and magic would be thrown around but it all ended pretty quickly. The ending was pretty emotionally charged at least for Danika and had me a bit sad but Violet and Ewan’s happily ever after make up for that. This is the third and final book in the free ebook deal on Amazon but there are still two more books in the Big Bad.

Their hands tend to be talented at other things as well. *wink wink*, because it wouldn’t be a Reisz novel without some awesome sexy times. Like the first book in this series this one is also heartwarming with some good laughs involved.

That being said I still thoroughly enjoyed it, but when you read the two back to back it’s hard to not compare. Clover runs a successful nursery but is getting ready to close up shop for the weekend. It’s right before Thanksgiving and she can’t bare to deal with her passive aggressive family alone. Thankfully, her awesome teenaged assistant has a single sexy father who is up for being used this holiday season. Erick and Clover have been eying each other and Ruthie has had enough and she takes it upon herself to hook them up for the holidays.

From here on their chemistry explodes! Its laughs, good sex and Clover worrying about her family and Erick doing his best to calm Clovers nerves. I really liked Erick and Clover together, I feel like they balanced each other well and made a good team. Im happy I got a copy of this book to read. Thanks NetGalley and Harlequin!

Jilted in love, her life now consists of shelving books by day, watching too much Anime by night, and occasionally dressing up like a superhero on the weekends with her fellow ‘Bleeding Heart’ nerds. Men are not welcome and very much unwanted. Especially the sexy Frenchman who saunters into her library reeking of alcohol and looking like he went one too many rounds in the ring.

Again. Caught with his pants down (literally) he’s forced to seek asylum on Earth while his fairy godmother tries to keep Prince Charming from going all ‘Off with his head’. Maybe, messing around with the King’s daughter hadn’t been such a great idea after all, not that Gerard knew the silly redhead was a princess. But his fairy godmother knows the only way to save his life is to finally pair Gerard with his perfect mate, whether he’s willing or not.

He thought Betty would come as willingly to his bed as every other woman before her, but she is a woman who demands respect and even… horror of all horrors… love. Is it possible for a self-proclaimed Casanova to change his ways?

I suspected I knew which fairy tale Gerard is from but we don't find out for sure until a little ways into this book. I didn't feel like this book had quite the same emotional connection as the first book. It was still entertaining but it missed a bit of that. Gerard is what we might call a manwhore, he got himself into a spot of trouble and go thrown out of Kingdom. Danika took the opportunity to introduce Gerard to his fated mate. It is not love at first site between Betty and Gerard.. Maybe a whole lot of lust but Betty is less than impressed with Gerard when they first meet.

Gerard is cursed with pretty much his worst nightmare as part of his sentencing and is banned from Kingdom for one month. At the end of the month his fate is in Betty’s hands. I liked how this book wasn’t insta-love. It pretty much takes the full month for deep feelings to develop. It builds as they spend more time together and get comfortable. Betty was cute and I enjoyed her even her quirkiness. Gerard, I wasn’t feeling that much at first but little by little he turns himself around. We find out there is more to him than just his cock. If that's all he had there was no way he’s have been able to win Betty over. Overall, it was good; it wasn’t great but a fun quick read. And this one is available for free on Amazon in the three book collection.

The cover intrigued me along with the blurb. I'm not sure why it took me so long to actually read it but I’m sad I didn’t get to it sooner. Immediately I liked Danika who is the fairy godmother to the Bad Five. She’s a fairy with some sass and likes to take on a challenge. Her most current challenge? To find the mates of the Bad Five before the year is up or they will be no more. She’s been trying to find Hatters mate for years but she can sense his time is drawing near as he is retreating more and more into Wonderland and his own madness.

She swears when she was 13 that Hatter came to her when she was in the hospital. She’s been in love with Hatter ever since. Alice thinks she is dreaming when she first lands in Wonderland but soon realizes that this is no dream and the Hatter is really there.

I really enjoyed this book, it’s pretty short about 150 pages but it packs a pretty good punch. The ended almost had me in tears but I managed to stay strong and keep it in check lol. I loved how descriptive Marie Hall’s writing was and how she re-imagined Alice and Hatter. She took a well known fairy tale and turned it into her own. Hatter and Alice have some obstacles to overcome including Wonderland accepting Alice and one of its own, but Alice fights.. She fights for what she wants. I definitely recommend grabbing this one and giving it a chance. Why not, it's free afterall.
