Movie Review: Thor

Movie Review: Thor

Run Time: 114 Mins
What it is about:
Thor is the first son of the king of Asgard (protectors of the 9 realms), he is destined to be king. Thor is hot tempered, self centered and has not been putting the needs of his people above his own. When the Frost Giants, attack Asgard, Thor decides its in the best interest of Asgard to attack the Frost Giants and start another war. Loki, Thors younger brother goes to the king with Thors plan, angered the King casts Thor out to the realm of Earth to live among humans.
What I thought:
I really enjoyed this movie! I went into the movie not really knowing what to expect, comic book movies tend to be either really good, or really bad. Thankfully, this one was on the good side! There were special effects galore, but they did not overwhelm the movie, but worked with the plot so they did not overwhelm or take over the movie. The acting was good! Chris Hemsworth as Thor was really believable! Natalie Portman is Jane Foster, a scientist on the verge of something huge! And Portman can really pull off an academic, scientist type, as a Stanford grad, she has the brains to make it believable. The on screen chemistry between Portman and Hemsworth is actually believable as well. Portman is not always the best “love interest” but this time it worked. But Hemsworth is delectable in this film so I think any straight, alive female would do a little peeking. =)  The dynamics with Thor and his personal guard is fun, they look and act like a team that has been through a lot of danger with each other and trust each other with their lives. Tom Hiddleston plays Loki, the mischief making younger brother, who has always been a bit jealous of Thor. Hiddleston really gets into his role, I don’t think I have ever seen Hiddleston act in anything else, but I have a feeling we are going to be seeing a lot more from him. I really bought his portrayal of Loki. This film was also surprisingly enough, pretty funny! I found myself laughing a lot. It didn’t take itself too seriously which was great! I never expected to laugh as much as I did. Overall this was a great film, I highly recommend it and I would even see it again!

Go see it ASAP!
