Plagued by a war between magic and technology, Atlanta has never been so deadly. Good thing Kate Daniels is on the job.

Kate Daniels may have quit the Order of Merciful Aid, but she’s still knee-deep in paranormal problems. Or she would be if she could get someone to hire her. Starting her own business has been more challenging than she thought it would be—now that the Order is disparaging her good name, and many potential clients are afraid of getting on the bad side of the Beast Lord, who just happens to be Kate’s mate.

So when Atlanta’s premier Master of the Dead calls to ask for help with a vampire on the loose, Kate leaps at the chance of some paying work. Turns out this is not an isolated incident, and Kate needs to get to the bottom of it—fast, or the city and everyone dear to her might pay the ultimate price . . .

Review:
So ahh yeah, I read this book about a month ago and am now just getting around to reviewing it, oooppppsss!! Hey! Work has been hectic and I haven’t had much time. L So anyway the point of tell you all that, is that some of the details are a bit fuzzy around the edges. But what I can ell you is that is was a kick ass book! Just like Kate Daniels is a kick ass character. I basically lived in the Kate Daniels world for almost two weeks. I was devouring book after book after novella until I had consumed everything there was to consume. Regrettably, I came to the end of the Kate Daniels series and Kate Daniels World books and then I was left with a Kate Daniels hangover. Even though I was finished my brain wasn’t quite done thinking about it all. You know a series is good when even after you just spent two weeks reading nothing but those books you are still thinking about them weeks later. Like an addict needing your next fix.

In this book, the stakes may just be the highest yet for Kate and crew. There is this super powerful device that can kill them all in the hands of humanist radicals that are out to kill all things magic. Men, women, children, environment. It doesn’t matter they want it all gone. Stupid haters! This time the villains may strike closer to home than ever before. They are on a very limited deadline and petty arguments must be put aside for everyone to work together. For the first time, even those who hate each other are working together for the common good. Even with the collective power they still may lose everything!

Kate finds out some information that rocks her very foundation and has her questioning everything she ever thought about her life. Finally her and Curran are in a pretty good place until this information leaks out. Now not only is her entire life up until this point called into question but her entire future is too. There are some great moment between Kate and Curran, but this new information may just kill all of that.

Andrea is back, after months of mysteriously disappearing with nothing but a note, she is back and in need of a job. Kate may not have any clients but she always has a job for Andrea. Things between Andrea and Raphael are over and she is heartbroken, but she has a job to do and has to adjust to life outside being an Agent of the Order.

Derek, who is one of my favorite recurring characters isn’t in this book as much. He kind of takes a step back. At the young age of 19 he is evaluating his life. He’s already reached one of the top positions in the Pack and needs to branch out. What better way than to join Kate and learn a few things along the way.

This is another fantastic addition to this series and one of my favorites. It is action packed, humor filled and one hell of an entertaining read. If you haven’t started the Kate Daniels series yet, you need to! It is one of my favorite Urban Fantasy series.
