#FF – Do you like copy cats?

Welcome to the Feature & Follow

Increase Blog Followers, gain Book Blog Followers and make new friends with the Book Blogger Feature & Follow! If this is your first time here, welcome! You are about to make some new friends and gain new followers — but you have to know — the point of this hop is to follow other bloggers also. I follow you, you follow me.

trans Feature & Follow #121
The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of Parajunkee’s View and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it’ll allow us to show off more new blogs!

How does this work? First you leave your name here on this post, (using the linky tools — keep scrolling!) then you create a post on your own blog that links back to this post (easiest way is to just grab the code under the #FF picture and put it in your post) and then you visit as many blogs as you can and tell them “hi” in their comments (on the post that has the #FF image). You follow them, they follow you. Win. Win. Just make sure to follow back if someone follows you!

I’m Featured This Week! Whoot Whoot! So excited! So welcome to my blog, I hope you enjoy it. I am actually going to be changing my blog name and getting a new design coming up pretty soon.

I hope you all keep in touch! I love talking books!

When did you start blogging?
I started blogging a long time ago, maybe 2 or 3 years ago. I started blogging to give me something to do at work when I was bored. I absolutely NEVER expected that I would stick with it. I am a typical Aries, I get bored quick and move on but blogging has managed to stick!

What is your favorite part of book blogging?
My favorite part of book blogging is the community and find new great reads from visiting other peoples blog. I don’t know that I would have picked up more than half of the books that I have if it hadn't been for the book blogging community. And lets face it the free books is pretty cool too! LOL

What is your favorite book(s)?
My favorite series is the Immortals After Dark series by Kresley Cole! I LOVE it! Kresley Cole can do no wrong in my eyes. I even liked her young adult title Poison Princess. If you are curious about the Immortals After Dark series I am giving away the first full length title of the series “A Hunger Like No Other” and it’s SIGNED! You can sign up below. =)

What has been the best thing that has happened to you because of book blogging?
Meeting so many great peeps has been the best part of book blogging for me!

This Weeks Question:  Do you mind books with similar ideas to other books? Similar concepts, backgrounds, retellings or pulled-to-publish fanfic?

I don’t mind similar ideas so much. When you read a lot of romance, paranormal especially you will see repeated themes a lot. I mean how many times can you reinvent a vampire novel? And then there is whatever the current fad is like zombies or BDSM. So to a degree it doesn’t phase me but when it is an obvious rip off of some details, then I start to have a problem. When you have the nagging feeling of “Haven’t I read this book already?” then maybe an author took it too far.

  1. Congrats on being featured this week! Repeated themes don't bother me either, but when I start getting déjà vu while reading a book, that bothers me.

  5. Congratulations on being featured. That's true, paranormal romance themes does get repeated a lot, but if the authors find their own creativity, maybe they can make something more new and special for their readers. ;)

  10. Congratulations on being featured!!

Yeah, I had a simialr answer. If you read books of the same genre, you have to expect overlap.

  11. Definitely agreed with your answer. I think these days, overlaps are pretty inevitable. It just depends on how well the author writes them. Congrats on being featured! New follower. :)

  12. Congrats on the feature! I agree...all stories have been told before, in one form or another. The authors just need to be creative, that's all.

  13. Hopping through. Congrats on being the feature! I definitely think that a good author will make you forget that the book is similar to anything else you've read. If you realize the similarities while reading too much, that's a problem.

Great answer, I agree. Similar themes are fine, but when it's obvious the author is stealing an idea from somewhere, it's not.

  39. That's pretty much how I felt, too. I don't mind reading a couple of books in the same sub-genre (witches, or steam punk, fairies, etc), but when the details -- the quirks of the characters, or the setting -- become to similar, then I start to get irritated.
