Guest Author: Olivia Cunning

Combining her love for romantic fiction and rock ‘n roll, Olivia Cunning writes erotic romance centered around rock musicians.

Raised on hard rock music from the cradle, she attended her first Styx concert at age six and fell instantly in love with live music. She's been known to travel over a thousand miles just to see a favorite band in concert. As a teen, she discovered her second love, romantic fiction -- first, voraciously reading steamy romance novels and then penning her own.

Olivia Cunning delivers the perfect blend of steamy sex, heartwarming romance, and a wicked sense of humor in this menage story featuring the hottest guy in the Sinners band.
Trey Mills, the notoriously sexy Sinners rhythm guitarist, gives up his bisexual lifestyle and is swept into a hot, heady romance with Reagan Elliot, a female rock star sensation. But when Trey encounters Reagan's sexy bisexual roommate, Ethan Conner, he can no longer deny who he is or what he wants. Reagan heartily agrees to a solution that opens up a hot new world of sexual experience--and love--with the two men she wants the most

I asked Olivia Cunning what her favorite song is as well as what her favorite concert was. Here is her response!

Thanks for having me on your blog today!

I get asked what my favorite song is often. The problem is I don’t have a favorite song, just a favorite genre of music. Rock, please. And only rock. I do have playlist for each of the Sinners’ books released so far. Perhaps if you listen to the songs that represent each band member, you’ll get a feel for their characters and what I mean by not having a favorite song. Every song (or at the very least, every music artist) has a different feel and evokes a different set of emotions. A different atmosphere. So my choice of favorite song depends on my current mood and situation.

The theme song for Brian Sinclair, the lead guitarist of Sinners and hero of Backstage Pass is “All I Want” by Staind. I chose that song for him because the man is a hopeless romantic and while he’s flinging his heart at the initially unreceptive heroine, the song fits him perfectly.

The theme song for Sedric “Sed” Lionheart, the vocalist of Sinners and hero of Rock Hard is “If You Only Knew” by Shinedown. This song fits Sed’s feelings for the heroine of the book, Jessica, as they were once engaged and he’s been pining for her for a couple of years. She has no idea he still cares.

The theme song for Jace Seymour, the bassist of Sinners and hero of Hot Ticket (which will be released next February) is Pain by “Three Days Grace”. This song actually inspired the character, not the other way around. I didn’t try to find a song to fit Jace. That song is Jace. I’m greatly influenced by music.
The theme song for Eric Sticks, the drummer of Sinne
rs and hero of Snared (which should be out next Fall) is “Head Against the Wall” by Anew Revolution. I chose this song for Eric because he tends to purposely bang his head on things to try to curtail his dirty thoughts. It doesn’t work so well for him. He’s quite a character!

And Trey Mills, the rhythm guitarist of Sinners and hero of Double Time (which was just released a few days ago. Yay!), has two theme songs. The first one fits his personality so well and it’s just perfect for his attitude. He’s entirely lovable. It’s “…To Be Loved” by Papa Roach. And his other song, because he’s so known for his addiction to cherry suckers is “Lollipop” by Framing Hanley.

If you’re interested in the entire playlists for each book they can be found on my blog under Sinners on Tour Official Playlists.

Olivia Cunning Offical Sinners on Tour Playlists

Now while I love to listen to recorded music, there is no substitute for live music. I love concerts with the heat of thousand suns! I have a few favorite live bands, and I have to admit that I’m a total sucker for a lead singer who knows how to pump up a crowd. My all-time favorite live band is Avenged Sevenfold. If you leave an Avenged Sevenfold concert without a smile on your face and with a normal heart rate, you must be in a coma. A close second favorite live band is Papa Roach. Lead singer, Jacoby Shaddix actually goes into the crowd. It’s phenomenal! I also adore Three Days Grace and Powerman 5000 live. Disturbed is another band not to be missed (so sad they’re currently taking a break!). What sets these bands apart from all the bands I’ve seen live is their interaction with the crowd. I go to concerts to have a great time first, and to listen to music second. Rock concerts are different from, say, orchestral concerts. You don’t just go for the music. You go for the experience. There are so many bands I would like to experience live, but haven’t had the opportunity to see yet. I’m making a list of must-see live shows and hope to get to as many as possible in the next couple of years. Does anyone have suggestions for great live bands I should include on my list?

  1. Great guest author!!!! Olivia, you have the best taste in music ;) Three Days Grace & Shinedown = faves of my too! I'm like you though - I don't have an all time favorite song but when asked, I usually say Sweet Child O' Mine by GNR is probably the closest thing to an all time fave for me. LOL No matter what kind of mood I'm in, that song plays & I smile, the rest of the world fades out, and I sing hahaha You're fabulous! Keep up the AMAZING work!!!

  3. Kayla- Sweet Child of Mine is one of my favorites too. Great song! And I need to see G'n'R live. They were my favorite band in high school.

John- I haven't seen Rob Zombie live, but I've had several friends say that he has the best live shows. I really need to go to one!

  4. I love reading your interviews, Olivia. I get excited every year when the Rockstar Uproar Fest comes to KC. Godsmack was here this past year and they were amazing. Three Days Grace is my favorite band, but I am totally crushing on P. Roach's music right now. Good luck with all the fun concerts you will attend in the future.

  6. The only bad concert I've ever been to was GNR - and I've seen them twice! LOL In the first show, Axl took off halfway through the show and wouldn't come back. In the second, Axl ran behind the stage in between every song and during every solo - his voice sounded awful. I think he was taking something for his voice... or maybe his nerves. Who knows? Again it was a very short show compared to the others on the bill.

As for the best - Tool (phenom musicianship), Rammstein (so much fun!), Janes Addiction. These were all just a few months ago!!

I'm anxiously awaiting Soundgarden. Sheesh, I'm so old school. LOL
