Summary:
Kit Colbana is always biting off more than she can chew. She has a knack for finding trouble. This time, though, trouble finds her. Someone from her past drops a case into her lap that she just can’t refuse…literally.

People on the Council are dying left and right and she’s been requested to investigate the deaths. The number one suspect? Her lover, Damon. If she doesn’t clear his name, he gets a death sentence. Even if she succeeds? They still might try to execute him. Oh, and she’s not allowed to tell him about the case, either.

The stakes are high this time around, higher than they’ve ever been. Kit may be forced to pay the ultimate price to save her lover’s life…a price that could destroy her and everything she loves.

Review:
This book will utterly gut you; just tear you apart by the end. This is tale is an extreme roller coaster of emotion and action. I swear at one point I was sobbing for Kit and I HATE to cry! I am not a pretty crier. Lol From the beginning we are taken on a ride, this book picks up about 3 months from where the first book left off. Kit and Damon are really trying making a go of their relationship. However, when an old friend comes to Kit with a new case she realizes everything she has been working for may come crashing down around her. Spurred on to protect the one that has come to mean so much to her, she takes on this case.

Kit is completely tested with this case, important members are dying and Kit has to find out why and this time it’s personal. The one person she wants to turn to, she can’t. She is forbidden to speak to anyone regarding the case; she is mystically bond from speaking to anyone directly regarding the deaths. She takes on rabid wolves, almost dies from another wolf attack, takes on a nasty witch and members of the council, not to mention Damon’s disproving pack and this is all in the first three quarters of the book. For me, what really made this book was the last quarter or so of this book. The first three quarters is action packed and entertaining but it’s the end that will wreck you. J.C. Daniels isn’t afraid to take risks, take readers out of their comfort zone and really hit hard.

Get ready for an amazing, fantastic ride that will stick with you for a long time to come! I cannot wait for the third book; it cannot come out soon enough.
