Summary:
From Goodreads.com
When it comes to following her instincts, former Marine Dee-Ann Smith never holds back. And this deadly member of a shifter protection group will do anything to prove one of her own kind is having hybrids captured for dogfights. Trouble is, her too-cute rich-boy boss Ric Van Holtz insists on helping out. And his crazy-like-a-fox smarts and charming persistence are making it real hard for Dee to keep her heart safe...

Ric can't believe his luck. He's wanted this fiercely-independent she-wolf from day one, but he never expected teamwork as explosive as this. And now is his last chance to show Dee what she needs isn't some in-your-face Alpha male-but a wily, resourceful wolf who'll always have her back in a fight…and between the sheets.

Review:
I started this series with the fifth book in the series “BEAST BEHAVING BADLY” and loved that book so much that I quickly grabbed the next books in the series. I definitely recommend reading these books in order and not picking them up in the middle like I did. You can read them as standalones but there are so many characters that I do suggest reading them in order.

Having just come off reading BEAST BEHAVING BADLY I was a bit disappointed with BIG BAD BEAST. Not that this book was bad, but I just didn’t like Dee-Ann and Ric as much as I liked Blayne and Bo. Their chemistry for me was not as fun or explosive. I didn’t really feel like these two were actually all that into each other, well I knew Ric was way into Dee-Ann from the last book, but Dee-Anns attraction to Ric fell a bit flat for me. I liked Dee-Ann and Ric as individual characters but not as much as a couple.

Dee-Ann is a total bad ass, she is a former marine who now does contract work for the Group. I’d say her life is always in peril, but really it is anyone that Dee-Ann has locked in on that’s life is truly in peril. She is one of the most dangerous people in the world and she knows it. She has an abrasive personality that I enjoyed. Her sarcasm is always humorous and I loved how Dee-Ann and Malone were always fighting. I found it quite amusing, I have to say. Ric, I enjoyed, he was calm to Dee’s fierce; but I wanted him to be more alpha, more of a hard ass. Dee is obviously the alpha of this relationship. Really the only time he truly showed any alpha tendencies was when he was ordering his cousin around. There isn’t anything wrong with Ric and I did like him despite my preferences for a stronger male lead, but he’s not my favorite of this series.

The book kept the same fast pace of the rest of the books of this series and maintained its sense of humor. I suspect that a lot of people will really enjoy Ric and Dee and I still absolutely recommend this series to readers. I know I will be continuing on with the series.

  1. It's so funny how everyone reacts differently to the same books :) I was the exact opposite of ya. Bo and Blayne were the average ones in the series for me. I liked em but they didn't blow me away. But I LOVED these two and that Ric wasn't a badass alpha wolf ;) Maybe it's because this one was the first I read in the series? I'm glad you're enjoying the series even if this one didn't totally do it for ya :)

  2. So very true! I have seen other reviews that felt the same as you. I started with Blayne and Bo, so maybe that's my attachment. But I really liked Bo's OCD tendencies they cracked me up and I liked that Blayne is an undercover bad a$$. =)

Tho with this one I guess I did appreciate that Ric did seem to know what Dee needed sometimes before she even did.

    1. I really think it must be a where you started. It's just such a great series you can't help but really love the ones who got you into it :) LOL yeah Bo and his OCD was good. I really liked that he wasn't your typical shifter too. I'd never read bears until this one.

    2. Have you read book 8 yet? It's on NetGalley if you haven't. I think I liked it the best so far. But I haven't gone back to the beginning yet so I'm still missing books 1-4. I'll get to them someday. :/
