Movie Review: Underworld - Awakening

What it is about:

The elders are dead, Selene and Michael are persona non-grata among the vampire covens but at least all major threats have been removed. Until the humans discover the existence of Vampires and Lycans. Now the hunters are the hunted. Selene and Michael know they need to leave town ASAP but just as soon as they are about to take off, the human catch up with them and Selene is taken captive.

12 years later:

Selene wakes up in a lab not knowing what happened to Michael. She awakes to a world that is vastly different from when she was captured. The Covens have gone into hiding, the Lycans live underground and she has no allies and no Michael. When she starts seeing visions she follows them to find a little girl. The girl is important, but she doesn’t know why…

What I thought about this movie:

I highly enjoyed this flick. It was action from beginning to end, non-stop. There was not a single dull moment. Plus there was hardly any talking, every one was too busy kicking someones ass. Seriously, I haven’t seen so much slicing and dicing in a long time. Even the little girl kicked some serious ass and was a little bit scary, but in a good way. The only thing that I can say is that this movie was kind of on the short side, before you know it the film was over. I feel like it should have been a bit longer.

My verdict:

Go see it in the theaters there is too much action not to. If I was to watch it over again, I’d go for matinee prices but I don’t feel ripped off by paying regular price since it was a highly entertaining movie.

  1. Thanks for the review. Everyone that I've read has kind of had a love/hate relationship with this movie but I suspect if you're a fan of the series, it's worth seeing. Perhaps if they'd had more dialogue it would've been longer.
Thanks again. I still want to see it. : )

    1. I loved it! It was blood, gore and tons of violence which is what it should have been, I'd see it again. =) Although I am a fan of the series. I've seen all of them except the prequel.

    2. Oh, then you should see the prequel, Rise of the Lycans, it gives you the origins of the feud between the Lycans and the Vampires. I thought it was the best of the series, so far. Thanks again for the review. Have a good week. : )
